Facade of Teylers Museum Restored
Friday 23 June 2023
Great news: the scaffolding on the front facade has now been removed and the facade was festively unveiled on Friday, June 23, 2023 by Mayor Jos Wienen and our Director Marc de Beyer.
The facade of Teylers Museum has been under scaffolding for a thorough restoration in recent months. Due to various environmental factors, the sandstone facade from 1885 has become contaminated over time. In recent months, this pollution has been removed as much as possible, using a special laser technique. In addition, repairs were carried out and the group of statues on the roof was also renovated.
The repair was carried out by the company Venema Restauratie, specialized in restoration, renovation and surface cleaning. TPAHG architects supervised the process. The restoration was realized with the support of a private donor and thanks to a contribution from the Stichting Monumentenbehoud Haarlem.
